
Female Reproductive System
The first week of human development takes place during the journey from the fallopian tube (where fertilization occurs) to the uterus where the embryo implants.

Lots of growth happens during this time, settling the question of whether there is life, but some disagree about when this human life becomes a person.

TERMS
Cervix - The narrow, lower or outer end of the uterus.
Fallopian Tube - Either of the pair of tubes that carry the egg from the ovary to the uterus.
Fertilization (or conception) - The joining of a man's sperm and a woman's egg to create the first form of human life.
Implantation - The process of attachment of the embryo to the inside of the uterus.
Ovary - One of the paired female reproductive organs that produce eggs and sex hormones.
Uterus - The female reproductive organ where the unborn baby develops during pregnancy.
Vagina - The muscular canal leading from the external genitals to the cervix of the uterus; also termed "birth canal"
